Stories across the Galaxy

CONCEPT: This is a personal project I started in honor of something I love very much, Star Wars. I came up with the idea of a digital storybook design (with complimentary physical product) that plays with lots of textiles and textures. With this, I was inspired to take paper textures and distort and fold the images on top of themselves to imitate origami shapes.

Throughout the project, I wanted to keep things to immediately identifiable iconography from the SW universe, with the same theme of Stories across the Galaxy. If this was a tangible product, the idea is that it would explore the Disney canon and extended universe of SW. Filler text is a very abridged paraphrasing, a bit in jest, starting from the prequel film trilogy.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

THE GALACTIC REPUBLIC rules the stars, but civil unrest is churning across the planets as taxation, political siege, trade disputes, and corporate greed upend incorporated and outlying star systems. As the Congress of the Republic works to maintain peace in the galaxy, the TRADE FEDERATION and Supreme Chancellor were only making things worse.

Unrest spreads from the people to the Galactic Senate. New political tensions have inspired thousands of planets to threaten their secession from the Republic alliance. The JEDI KNIGHTS, the guardians of peace, struggle to maintain order. Senator Amidala returns to the Senate for a critical vote in creating an ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC to assist the Jedi.

Unfortunately, evil is everywhere. In the throes of a war between the Galactic Republic and the Sith's rogue forces, an army of clones and the Republic forces are at odds. Chancellor Palpatine is kidnapped by the SEPARATIST DROID ARMY. But two Jedi Knights are on their heels...

But the Galactic Republic is crumbling! Political tensions rise to new levels as the JEDI ORDER loses some of its most valued members, both in battle and to the DARK SIDE. The once revered Chancellor Palpatine of the Galactic Republic is revealed to be a Sith Lord who persuades the young Jedi Knight, Anakin Skywalker, to betray the Republic and bring about the start of THE GALACTIC EMPIRE...
